Everything breaks down on the Dakar, this is why teams enter support vehicles into the actual race. If you are in the race you can assist others. The bivouac at night is like a huge motorsport factory where vehicles that have suffered damage or failure are rebuilt ready for the next day.
Average day in the Dakar distance wise is like driving from Gatwick to Glasgow with a special 300k timed stage in Manchester. And that's for 13 or 14 days.
We may see the race vehicles before the Dakar as they will have to qualify for the Dakar. Like all other teams. So they should be in Argentina, Abu Dhabi and Morocco. These smaller races are also a great test bed for vehicles, the team members and logistics. 130's have feeling's as well you know
