Removing and storing Expedition Rack
Hello all

So I’m having roof rails and the expedition rack fitted to my L663 110 and then a roof top tent, probably the IKamper DLX full size.

I’m just doing a reality check though before I buy. It occurs to me that I would not always want to travel with the expedition rack and roof top tent so I’d take it off in between trips.

Want I’d like to know so how easy and how long would it take to remove the tent and rack in one piece using a pulley in the garage and raise off the car?

I’ve got enough headroom to have it hanging up there and would just lower it and refit the rack with roof tent attached when I need it.

Combined weight I calculate at around 100kgs.

Thanks in advance for any info and alternative ideas.

Paul

Ps. This sort of set up looks perfect and takes 100kgs combined. Looks like a weekend project.

I have a patriot rack and Maggi on my tdci.

Rope to each corner vertically up to garage roof.

Series of pulleys to take 4 ropes to 12 atv winch. In and out 10mins once gutter clamps are off.

It then lives suspended until next needed. Cheers

Could always do what I did to remove the RTT.

Build a crane.
