Connected Navigation Subscription
Just had notification that my Connected Navigation subscription will be expiring in 60 days.

What are your thoughts - worthwhile renewing or not renew, do you use something else?

I use Google Maps via Apple CarPlay. Works very well for me.

I think that paying for something that comes for free on every smartphone is not ideal.

Especially since the quality of the navigation apps on smartphones - piped in via Android Auto/Carplay are so good. 2022 Defender 110 SE P400 Tasman Blue Expedition and Cold weather package

The personal i’d say. For me i would reconnect in a heartbeat. I hate connecting smartphones and i dislike almost all smartphone navigation. Rather have a car thats dedicated to that instead of relying on a extra for that.

Also , the Landrover navigation is really quite good, comparing to other high end cars. Only the BMW x5 headsup display was better and had slightly better “different routes for the same destination “. I doing a big trip through allmost all EU countries toward Asia and the navigation only had problems with one-way streets in Tbilisi (where neither g maps nor apple maps worked at all)

I will not renew HERE navigation. The worst I ever had.
In the beginning MY20 & MY21 a lot of settings could be selected but they're all gone.
( Displays not even one way streets ) No Mud flaps for my 90.!

I renewed mine. Having had experiences where both Google and Apple Maps (via CarPlay) hung due to the lack of phone signal in "remote" parts of Exmoor, whereas LR's maps are already downloaded and you get traffic info and "safety camera" alerts. Current vehicle: 2020 Defender 110S

Google Maps, Apple Maps, Waze, GaiaGPS, OnX .... all have "offline" mode which means you can download maps to your phone for when you're in the boonies. Added bonus is that it not only downloads the road maps but all of the POI as well.

During the hurricane Helene debacle, T-mobile (cell carrier) was able to enable direct-to-phone communications via Starlink. So that's coming very soon. 2022 Defender 110 SE P400 Tasman Blue Expedition and Cold weather package

I didn't renew mine when it was due on 22/09 but every time I get in the car it reminds me that they have expired, I expected this for a day or two but not for a Censored month! Rolling Eyes Cheers Ian

I reckon the speed camera alert notification needs the LR Nav subscription?

LR navigation (including speed camera warnings) all works fine once the subscription has expired. The only thing you lose from a satnav point of view is the live traffic.

I do like the LR navigation software, it’s very good. But if I am going somewhere where I want to have traffic info I just use Google Maps. Likewise I don’t miss the other ‘connected’ features like the Spotify app, as I just use it on my phone via CarPlay - I could never see the point of the built-in app anyway.
