Cyprus 2013 Defender 110 Puma 2.2 XS CSW Fuji White
P061B ERROR CDE
Hey folks,

Back at it with my ‘13 2.2 110 – not my daily, but I took it out yesterday for a spin. Was on the highway running a bit late to pick up my daughter, so I pushed it a bit.

Suddenly, I heard this “TUD” noise, lost power, and the check engine light came on. Managed to pull over, turned it off, waited a few minutes, then started it back up. It wasn’t in limp mode, so I could drive, but the check engine light stayed on.

This morning, I fired it up, and the light was still there. Plugged in the OBD, got code P061B, and then the check engine light went off by itself. Now it’s driving totally fine.

My mechanic thinks it could be because the previous owner did a Stage 1 or 2 tune, and maybe the ECU needs an update. He’s saying we might need to reset it to the original map and then redo the tuning later.

Anyone else had this happen or know what’s up with this code? Not sure what caused it or why it’s suddenly fine again, but would love any advice to keep it from happening again. Thanks!

Here is some insight into the code and it’s potential causes, https://www.kbb.com/obd-ii/p061b/

It could be many things , but given you have a non std map I would suspect that first.

If the check engine light went off by itself then it’s because the ECU has run the same tests that triggered the DTC and the engine has subsequently passed those tests several times.

This is probably because you have not put the engine under the same stress as you did when the DTC was generated. However if you do again I suspect the same issue will occur.

Would you happen to know if ther's any way to know what mapping is on my ecu?
