Got a rock impact right on the edge of the window, 6 inch crack 😡 It was quite a large stone, saw it coming at me. Anyway, NfU hopefully will cover it minus excess.
They say things happen in 3’s This month I’ve already had a headlamp led halo fail, and the front parking sensors have errored. So hopefully that’s it for now! 2021 Defender 110 X-Dynamic HSE D300 MHEV 1966 S2a 109 aka Betsy |

You saw it coming? Where was it coming from to be airborne?

l am not sure any windshield will survive a rock hit like that? l think it's just due to the upright screen that's more susceptible to damage.

That’s bad luck, all Defenders from the newest to classic get more impacts I think, as the windscreen glass is more exposed due to angle, though the new Def has a bit more angle to deflect.
I once had a scaffolding bolt come off a lorry going the opposite way, it went by with about 10” to spare luckily, in a split second it’s quite a surreal experience! Pigeons and or Pheasants are some others to watch out for too, best to stay well clear if you can. That’s if they don’t appear from nowhere. ![]() ⛽️🛢️⚙️🧰💪 |

Arrived in France today and within 30 miles of the port a stone from another car hit the windscreen resulting in a star shaped chip which spread to a 6 inch crack within minutes . For now it’s stabilised but I guess a new screen will have to be ordered . I’m in France for a month - anyone advice on who to contact? Should I just contact my insurance company and let them get it sorted. It’s a solar attenuating screen!

I, while traveling, wouldn't worry too much, unless it's impeding your vision. Fixing it on the trip could be a waste of time. They won't have a stock available for you at the time, and, if so, it could happen again all day on the road... I'd forget about it and fix it when I got home. Good luck! Defender 110 SE I6 D250 23MY

@ruben
Good advice. I am currently on my 2nd windscreen and it has an almost circular 12-15 inch crack on the passenger side. This happened about 18 months ago and started as a smaller 3 inch crack. I have had additional smaller chips/cracks since and would be on my 6th windscreen, if I had replaced them right away. I will keep on driving with the cracks as long as they don’t impair my vision and are only in the outer glass. |

Thanks for the advice ! I’ve driven 300 miles since the crack appeared which hasn’t progressed . It’s on the passenger side, so I’ll just live with it till I return. It’s a relief to hear from other people.
Now been to the jet wash so all looks a lot better with the mountain of dead insects etc now removed! |
