Solar Attenuating Windscreen - how to identify.
I have MY23 90.

I ordered the solar attenuating windscreen.

How do I identify it, and so know that it has been fitted?

The markings on it are similar to the front passenger and driver’s side windows, and the mild tinting seems the same.

All my other windows have privacy glass.

Thanks in advance NSE.

You should be able to see the edges of a film in the glass (I think only the attenuating glass has it). At the top where the mirror is, the film has a cutout that is fairly obvious in the right light. FWIW, it makes a massive difference to internal temperatures when sitting in the sun in Australia. I was pleasantly surprised at how cool the car was when I’d parke din the sun for a couple of hours.

If you have polarised sunglasses its a kind of bright blue colour from the outside too Cheers, David

Please could someone with solar attenuating screen supply an image of the markings on the bottom corner? I should have the SA screen but do not have the defined areas next to the rear view mirror mount. I only realised this when attaching the French motorway gizmo and Austrian motorway vignette prior to my trip to Austria.

Thank you STNG 110 & Cheshire 110 for your replies..

It is looking likely that I may NOT have the Solar Attenuating windscreen that I have paid for.

Reading the third comment, I too don’t appear to have the clear area for stickers either.

I know MY23’s are missing a few of the basic features, eg soft close on the rear door and no holder for spectacles, but the SA windscreen is a paid for extra.

Looks like a trip to the dealers to sort out and compare my windscreen with a non SA screen.

I had solar windscreen fitted to a d5 as they didn't have a normal

I don't recall anything mentioned here, but it did say in the stamped bit... And you could tell on a warm day. Mike

Thanks very much vlad for supplying the images of your screen, that's very helpful.

Here are mine:

There are no obvious cutouts next to the mirror on my screen. And the suggested polarised sunglasses test didn't produce an obvious colour or pattern on the screen.

However, I'm guessing that the icon showing a thermometer and curved arrow in the screen label indicates that mine is a solar attenuating screen. Certainly the Order Details sheet that my dealer provided lists item '047EB Solar attenuating windscreen' and he tells me this sheet represents the 'as built' specification of my car.

My car is the V8, which lists the SA screen as standard, so unless it's another secret spec change by LR, I have to assume it's fitted and I'm hoping that the screen label confirms that.

I have not been able to upload photos.

But the two I wanted to are the same as Nuclear Nick has posted.

No cutouts, no change of colour using polarised glasses.

And I have the same thermometer icon, which I assume is confirmation re solar attenuating glass.

Thanks for your picture.

That confirms that I have a solar screen.

Just now need to find out what the ‘thick split I ‘ and the padlock on the side windows indicates.

Well done for finding that Ian. I looked on the Pilkington site but stupidly searched for Solar Control rather than Thermal Comfort!

No worries, I've been searching for the meaning of the capital I with the diagonal cut across it but can't find anything relating to that apart from it appears on a lot of Land Rover glass Thumbs Up Cheers Ian

What does your build sheet show was actually installed in/on the Defender.
