Best colour for a classic Range Rover
Self indulgent post alert.... I'm building a scale model of a 1981 Rangie but can't decide what to do the body. So, in your opinion, what's the most iconic or best colour scheme. I was going to do Darien Gap or Camel Trophy, but can't be bothered/don't have the skills to do the roof rack and all the paraphernalia to make it look the part. So best road going colour?

I will post a pic when it's done. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

The blue was the one colour that came to my mind.

The kit is a 5 door. Did they all have black pillars? 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

Ah, a 4 door. Yes, they all had blak pillars. Even the Monteverdi converted ones.

Agree with the above colours for 2 door, but my favourite 4 door colour was Cypress Green. Ardennes Green a close 2nd.

rev'd - like that a lot and a bit off topic but I'd seriously look at that, price seems good and the mileage, then is the seat belt is twisted? The stereo doesn't fit well, rear seats are saggy...... If they've missed easy bits like that what else has been let through?

How much quality is there with their Classic works?

I imagine the vehicle is presented in original 'as received' condition, how much you wanted to refurbish/renovate/upgrade would then be a subject for discussion.

I've not been to the German Classic Works but I have been to Ryton and the cars were pretty much top-notch (and out of my league) - I had gone to look at a 110 camper conversion to glean some ideas.

There was no shortage of Britpart boxes on the shelves in the build bays when I toured Classic Works a few years ago. To me it came across as a big shiny assembly room. All the really skilled work seems to take place off site, probably sub-contracted. Trimming was done in house I recall, and I think there was a gearbox rebuild room, but didn't see inside. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

I was speaking to the owner/founder of Britpart a couple of weeks back (we grew up in the same street) - he now has a better relationship with JLR than in years past - and despite what people may think, he stuck with the Defender at a time when Land Rover was ready to walk away from parts support for what to them was an obsolete model.

In the end I decided to replicate the dark blue that was popular on the late model Vogues this was as near as I could get.
