If you want the BEST warranty go for the Land Rover FACTORY Warranty, as the LR Warranty sold by the dealer, may only be 'Dealer Warranty'.

How do you get the 'factory' warranty?

In the UK, from new, the first owner gets an "invite" from JLR when their Defender is nearly 3 years old. My understanding is that once it is over 3 years old and the extended warranty has not been taken up before the standard 3 year manufacturers warranty ended, then JLR may require an inspection before one can buy an extended one. Clever marketing, eh? Current vehicle: 2020 Defender 110S Gone: Defender 90 HT 200Tdi, Discovery Sport, Freelander 2 Insta: wizzardprang |

I've just taken a Land rover extended warranty out as my defender was 3 years old at the end of September, I've gone for the one with Land Rover Assist and I had a letter from Land Rover asking me if I wanted to tqke one out. Cheers Ian

That's what I did and have just renewed again, mine is nearly 4 years old. Previous experience helped make the decision for me - the extended warranty and LR Assist took quite a hammering when I had my Freelander 2. Current vehicle: 2020 Defender 110S

Mine is £71 a month.
Only covers you up to 10 years old or 100k miles though. |

Mine went up a bit for the second year. About £1100 with LR Assist. They don’t charge interest if you pay monthly. Also includes European cover. Current vehicle: 2020 Defender 110S

I took out 'extended new car warranty' covering years 4 and 5, as a just in case. I am assuming that's factory warranty and not dealer warranty. Was about 1,000 pounds for 2 years, so seems like a good deal.
In Japan they only covered the first 3 years from new, and there doesn't seem to be anything official beyond year 5.... 22MY Defender 110 D300 S in Pangea Green and Contrast White Roof IG defender_japan "Hulk san" |

I didn’t go for an extra warranty. Unfortunately my theory of it won’t go wrong - was wrong! New headlamp required due to failed drl and halo, and now the front parking sensors have packed in.
It’s going in to the dealer and they have said ‘they will see what they can do’ regarding a goodwill repair based on the low mileage of the car. I know that there is a repair possible via Powerful UK kit. If they don’t give goodwill, I’ll have the old headlamp back and will repair it myself as a spare! Parking sensors are a mystery. They failed 8 months ago and I was given an out of warranty goodwill repair, but now they have failed again. 2021 Defender 110 X-Dynamic HSE D300 MHEV 1966 S2a 109 aka Betsy |
