D200/250/300
Has it been determined that changing the engine type from "D250" to "D300" with the GAP tool makes no difference?

If so, why is the option in the programming, if it doesn't do anything except flag up a warning that the engine type setting is "not original".

How does it stack in terms of insurance liability? in particular on the brakes on the D200/250 vs D300
which usually has larger brakes (same as P400). Assume the smaller brake package could be adequate
(some contingency in terms of stopping power built in), but if never tested officially i would assume that
if an insurance company discovered it in some weird way, they would look to void a claim??

In Oz we have been blessed that a company called Tuff Ant have gone through certification to enable
the rear calipers to be changed on P400/D300 models so we can fit 18" wheels and not void warranty
and insurance issues, they use LR OEM D5 calipers that fit snug within their 18" alloys but have the same
piston bores, stopping power and even the same brake pads as the original.. yet another pommie bar steward down under

You should always tell the insurance company about a remap, or they could refuse to pay out as you suggest.

ln my experience
in the U.K. it's usually okay with insurance companies so long as the remap or "engine chip" as the insurance refers to it, is between 10 and 25%.

So on a D250 that would be an extra 25-60bhp.

In terms of breaking power there is no difference between large and standard.
The standard disk size is already over sized. Land Rover did a very good job here.
However largest disk size will be more fade resistant, for someone towing a lot or someone driving like nuts it will certainly give more confidence and larger bill when replacing pads and disks.
Going to d250 to d300 I don’t really see any mechanical issue with breaking power.
