Paint layers and parking brake
Hey guys,

I recently removed one of the wheel arch trim spats from my new Defender and noticed that a small section hasn't been completely painted. It seems that the base and clear coats are missing in certain areas, leaving the primer visible, as shown in the photo. Is this normal, particularly for high-end vehicles like this one?

In my view of course it should be painted...on any vehicle, let alone a very costly one.

Ask the suppling dealer to explain, to also check under other trims and rectify all paint issues at LR cost.

I had a new D4, I went to fit sidesteps and noticed the paint had been missed behind the sill covers. The dealer rectified it. It would make sense to me that the whole shell receives the same paint standard at the factory. Unless they are now cost saving by telling the robots not to paint where trim is going! 110 MY23.5 X Dynamic HSE

Thanks again guys.

I have another concern and am uncertain whether to consult the dealer about it or if it's merely some transient behaviour. I would appreciate your opinion on this. Occasionally, there's a thump when shifting from a stationary position into drive or reverse after releasing the parking brake. The vehicle software is up to date, even though I doubt it's a software issue. Could the parking brake be the source of the problem?

ls it a brand new Defender? l found this to be the case with mine when it was new. lt got smoother over time.

Thank you for your response Lightning. Yep, it's brand new. When you mentioned that it became smoother over time, approximately how long did that take?

Same problem here, if it is a problem or is becouse the shifting is…a bit …“rough”, I dont know, It doesn’t happen all the time, the theory I have is that maybe I hit the release trigger sometimes at the wrong time, with a bit of delay and that increases or causes the effect which is even greater in short ratios. Mine did it more at the beginning, it’s true, but now with 7800 km it still continues from time to time… and it is true that it is becoming less frequent.. Defender 110 SE I6 D250 23MY
