90 for towing
I've had a plethora of of Disco's from D2 to D5 and a recent 110. Currently in a Grenadier but thats going.
I don't tow much thats 3.5 tonnes but a 16ft trailer with about 2t on regularly. Looking at a D5 or another 110 but been offered a very nice cancelled 90.

For those that tow a bit, is the 90 reasonably well planted with a decent trailer on the back. Power wise I know is fine but just wondered with it being smaller if it's less capable at bossing a trailer?
This one also has air so thats a bonus.

I don’t tow with mine.

Harry Metcalfe had one and done a bit of towing, I think it’s a bit more choppy than the 110 but still capable. Air suspension would probably be better.

The new 90 is bigger than a D2 and has a longer wheelbase. I’d suspect it should be very good for towing.

l tow a caravan with my 90, it's a very good towing vehicle. Mine doesn't have the air suspension.

lt's completely unaffected by crosswinds that have other outfits showing some instability. lt's probably due to the weight of the vehicle making it stable.

On some poor roads it can be a little choppy when towing, as already said above l imagine the air suspension would be better. And also the 110 would probably be better still.

But l've no complaints.

30 - 40% of my driving is with trailers and I find my D300 90 commercial very good. It's a bit choppier than the Disco 5 it replaced and the D240 110 before that but it's still excellent, and the air suspension makes hitching up the trailers simple.

One thing I do find is that it holds onto the gears for longer than I'd like so i tend to use it in manual mode when on the motorway. This also prevents it from changing down a couple of gears to get back to the preset speed the ACC senses that slower vehicles have pulled back into lane 1.

I tow a 14’ tandem axle cargo trailer with my P400 D90X. It tows very well. Yes I can feel the wheel base is a little bit shorter at times but the very short distance between the hitch and the rear axle provides a significant amount of stability. Typically my trailer is pretty light (3500lbs) but I have had it loaded down to a bit over 7,000 and it was still working well with a bit more room to accelerate to highway speed. The best part though has to be backing up trailers with it. Recently backed a smaller trailer that was supposedly a nightmare into a narrow alley for some friends who had given up trying with their large half ton pickup. Sure there is a skill factor but the D90 makes it incredibly easy.

"Currently in a Grenadier but thats going"

Why are you getting rid. l still like the look of the Grenadier and part of me wants one in replacement for my Defender.

lt's mainly the non-commercial status of the Grenadier that stopped me buying one.
