securing roof loads from theft
Nothing on the roof will be truly secure, but beyond a roof box (e.g. Thule/kamei) is anyone aware of a good way to secure standard wolf boxes / yeti coolers etc from theft? It seems like a cable lock of some sort might be best for this but I haven't seen many that would fit through the pretty tiny holes. I have a yeti tundra and a couple of the tuff trek wolf box plus; tied down to a t-track rack. And I'm hoping not to need to shove it all in the back if I stop somewhere for a few hours and go away from the car!

thanks

Nothing is really going to stop people but would some thing like this be suitable?

I use this cable lock which fits through my peli-case padlock holes. I slip it through the padlock hole and underneath the roof bars. It's more of a visual deterrent against opportunists than true security - as I'm sure someone prepared with a decent bolt cutter will have this away in no time, but for a short stop somewhere public it does the trick:

Holes for reference - probably similar to the yeti holes.

Alternatively, you could slip a padlock through the holes and use a bulkier chain attached to the padlock and looped around the roof bars. The trick is finding the perfect size so it doesn't rattle or ding your roof..

Squire also do 'straplocks' which are more resistant to cutting than the simple cable I use.

If I didn't need my peli to be watertight, I'd consider drilling through the bottom to fix it to the roofbar without anyone being able to access the fitting unless they broke through the padlocks keeping the box closed. I guess that's the same as your yetis - drilling is a little aggressive!

Same idea as others.

How about a bike lock and U lock, secure the bike lock to roof rack and the wire round the handles.

Alu Box with locker - secured on the roof top

If the roof load is more or less secured without locks, thiefs will look for more precious objects inside the cabin ...
