Herman (we'll be keeping this name!) is home to Devon after a 225 mile non stop potter down the motorways from Mansfield area yesterday to come and live with Heinz (what are the chances...see bottom of the thread!!)
Photo album here if anyone is bored... https://photos.app.goo.gl/pWB8Q11zAK2G5z5A6 Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge He's a 1985 South African import with 131k KM under his belt (80k miles ish i think), came in a couple of years ago and has had a very dry and interesting life for a sugar cane and forestry farmer in north coast Durban Factory galvanised chassis, galvanised bulkhead fitted soon after purchase as well as the deep dish steels for some weekend beach related duties. The 2 piece stainless frame was made in SA and isn't quite the right profile for a canvas hood (that uses a normal galv stick set), but it may prove useful for adaption if i fit a bikini hood for some summer duties etc...it's also a bit shiny for my liking, so may get wire wool treatment! -Centre seat first thing to fit so i can collect my girls from school tomorrow -Sand canvas seat covers ordered to freshen the inside up. -225 motorway miles on the V8 have shown up/created an oil leak which i am hoping is just an old gasket showing its age. -The 4 speed LT95 is a whiny thing despite fresh oils, but changes nicely enough! -And he needs a good tune up, potentially a dizzy, he's a bit lumpy low down and that's one of the few things that's not been changed. He seems to be very original and I do not think i'll be touching up the history on his paintwork... Will spend the time making a car port instead Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge He is yet to meet Heinz my old bitsa 2DR RRC....who by pure coincidence is the same colour and has the same wheels and tyre size... Factory galvanized chassis? Never knew it was an option, or maybe a special for SA?

Thanks all for the kind words, kids love Herman and he has managed school collections so far this week with centre seat fitted and plenty more petrol!
Freshened up the front plastics with new light surrounds, sanded and resprayed the original grill. Also started exploring his slightly low down lumpiness...most likely going to order a new electronic dizzy kit as well, if anyone has any recommendations. Click image to enlarge Exhausts, the old stainless system is getting rather tired, it looks to have been on there a.long time. I see Double S as a regular off the shelf system at £900 including headers. Any other options I should look at? Exmoor trim...would like 3 sand canvas seat covers and maybe even a full hood Not used them in a few years. Are they generally terrible at replying to queries, or have I just caught a bad time? I've emailed and rung when got no response, for a direct email address and still no replies🙄 It's like they don't want my money! Oh and I am very happy to give a proper chainsaw a home if it helps 😅 Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge |

Wonderful One Ten! Not too dissimilar to mine!
For an exhaust, I would give serious consideration to having Demand fabricate you a custom system. They aren’t wildly more expensive than buying an off-the-shelf solution, however they will likely want to have the vehicle for a couple of days. Herman sailed through his last ever MOT this week, which was a relief!
Awaiting time for some tinkering (new dizzy has arrived to fit, sort front diff seal etc)... Realised gearbox isn't actually that noisy compared to anything else I've owned - the 200+mile motorway collection drive was just a bit of a shock to the ears! Kids "helped" me remove the stainless stick/bar set as it's not quite the right shape for the canvas, so normal stick set back on. Click image to enlarge Enjoying the dryness and originality of a truckcab setup, so that will be staying for the moment But he has been pottering around East Devon "sipping" petrol....
