Decat pipe fitting on 2.4 TDCI
I'm confused by too much researching and conflicting advice.

I have a Demand decat downpipe I want to fit, and I want to save the original cat downpipe (so no chopping it in half).

To remove the original as well as undoing the nuts at each end I need to remove the gearbox cross member, but do I also need to drop the front propshaft or use a jack to move the engine over?

People's experiences much appreciated!

I removed mine and kept it whole. I remember it was a real bear but i forget the exact details. I know i did not jack up or move the engine.

I checked the manual and, yes, the front driveshaft has to be removed.

I am sure that I did nothing in respect of moving the engine when I removed mine, I can't actually remember removing the propshaft and gearbox cross-member but I think I must have done so. They've been off and on so many times it's hard to remember when and why.

I do remember that it was quite a tight fit to wiggle out, but was no particular problem. My replacement downpipe is a two-part pipe (from Alive, as I recall) which makes removing and fitting much easier.

X member out and prop off.

One of mine engine mount undone and engine lifted slightly the other didn't need it.

Comes out in one piece. Cheers

its the 2.2l tdci with dpf that needs the engine lifted to allow the dpf can clearance to be removed, and it helps if you can remove the upper two temp sensors, differential pressure sensor pipes ,and the oxygen sensor, which all helps with the clearance as you manoeuvre it down and out..the third lower temp sensor is far enough down the pipe I think not to be an issue but as its likely to be the easiest to get a spanner on you might as well remove it as well Thumbs Up Very Happy
