Defender 90 2003 TD5

Hi All,
Needs some advice , I have a damaged front bumper with daylight LEDs, I’ve looked on websites and found replacement bumpers with LED lights already fitted, so Ill just replace the whole issue.

Attach are photos of the current wire connection from lamp to the harness.

There are a multitude of options with wiring, can you advise ? I’m thinking there are ones with a connection (2 wires) is the simplest option to cut the connector off and secure to cable, if so are there any connectiors suitable?

Hi there

You've posted this in the wrong part of the forum! This is the new Defender section (2020 onwards)

Having said that, if you buy a new front bumper with LED lights fitted it should come with instructions and a diagram of how to connect it to the existing harness.

You'll need to remove the old wiring from the damaged LED bumper and tidy it up before fitting the new one.

Wiring in DLR’s should be very easy on a Defender. Although if you are not sure, that is why auto electricians exist.

I would say as a road user. Pretty much every DLR setup I’ve seen on a traditional Defender is quite horrid for other road users. The LEDs are always way too bright and a terrible height for anyone in a regular car or sports car. I’d personally wish for people not to run them. Not too mentions that bright lights make it harder for people to judge speed and distance. Doing the complete opposite of the DLRs intent. If you truly think you need extra visibility, you have side lights which conveniently come equipped with a simple on/off switch easily accessed from the drivers seat.

Sorry for posting on the wrong forum, after what Chicken Drumstick has posted and it’s not straight forward, so I’ll think I will go for a conventional bumper even though on my damaged bumper I have day light led’s the risk of buying a bumper with daylights then having a real issue with fitting and connecting.
