Front Side Lights only not working
Hi, would appreciate any help

My front side lights are not working - I've changed them both from the old to new Wipac LED, but still no change.

The instrument cluster light is working and the rears are also working.

I've checked both fuses and they look fine - any ideas?

Did they work before you swapped them? 02' 110 TD5 Double Cab Rebuild Thread

Led lights are polarity sensitive as well.

No, they didn't work before.

I assume the polarity was correct as the lights were plug and play. Is there any way to check, without manually trying to swap the cables round on one of the lights?

Think it was from 2002 (TD5/ROW)> where the wires were switched and the Wipac LED kit is plug/play.

300 tdi or earlier needs to have the wires swapped round in the LED plug.

Cheers - it's is a 2011 Puma 2.4 Xtech which had the KBX grille and surrounds - which I have now removed - would that make any difference?

they should be plug and play unless someone has been in there before - if you have a multi meter you can check which side is passing power and see if that marry's up with wipac led

if not i would take 1 plug apart so wires a loose and then have a play with each plug and check as you can then reverse and see.

if you take the yellow part of the plug out you can then get to the tabs which release the pins and pull out backwards.

failing that i would check/clean body grounds as that can be an issue.

Did the x-tech not have some funny front lights rather than traditional Defender sidelights?

Seems unlikely that there was a different wing wiring loom for them but might be worth a look behind the headlights there could be some kind of conversion loom there, worth checking the colours of the wires to the plugs you have connected your sidelights to incase they are not actually for sidelights. Never looked into that setup so no idea how it was done.

A 9V PP3 battery is ideal for that. Thumbs Up $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R

Sorry for the delay in coming back. The wires were the wrong way round so I've now fixed this, however the front side lights are still not coming on.

I've also got bumper DRL's wired off the side lights. When I turn the ignition on, but leave the sidelights turned off, the drls come on temporarily (so I know there's power getting through), but weirdly the drls flash on and off twice before going off.

it is prob also worth mentioning the side lights in my headlights do come on, so am wondering If this is a dim dip issue?

All input appreciated!!

Would appreciate anyone's input on this as I am stumped.

The front side lights do not switch on (the dash light does) and there is definitely power as these feed the bumper DRLs

Here's a picture of the side light connector

I have dim dip lights which are also working i.e. the lower bulb in the headlight lights up when the internal side light switch is used. Here's a picture of the wiring:

Appreciate any and all input!!

Disconnect the dim dip would be a good start, just simply disconnect it then go from there. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R

Thanks. Do you mean disconnect dim dip at the headlight i.e. unplug them?

Just under the drivers side wing you’ll find an Econoseal connector.
Presumably your model year has it, mine did.

Simply unplug it, there is no harm in doing so.
Blackwolf mentioned this to me before, otherwise it would be difficult to know that it was there or in place.
It is not good for the headlights anyway to be ran at reduced voltage. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R

Cheers Custom90. I looked everywhere under and near the driver's wing and could not find a connector. The closest I found was this connector which has a blue and a yellow wire, but is heading in the wrong direction
