Crank seal bolts... whitch one? + Q about seal protector
Stupidme! forgot to make a picture.

Now I have 2 type of bolts. as the lip of the seal is very small I presume it is the flattest bolt.

But wherefore are the others?

I do have 6 of both! and need 8!

I don't think it will matter.. I bought a new set of bolts when I did mine.. One of the original was a bit rounded.. They didn't have any flange head bolts so I put the new ones in with a small washer.. πŸ‘

thank you!

I was afraid the bolts would interfere with the flywheel.

additional question:

Did the seal protector fit over the crankshaft flange? I cannot get it over it and am afraid to damage the seal.

I thought about using extra gasket around (as you did), but the manual states only to use sealer at the two spots marked. Still not sure what to do.

You get the seal with two plastic fittings as I remember.. One guides the seal on to the shaft and the other centralise the Sealand housing for you to run the bolts in..
Its a job I had to do twice.. The first time I followed the fitting instructions to the letter.. Only used sealant where thry faid in my instructions..
It leaked from along the bottom edge of the seal housing..
When I Re did it I just followed my instinct and used a light wipe of rtv silicone around the seal on the housing, and of course the areas they tell you to use it on the block to ladder joint..
Its been fine πŸ‘
The sealant you can see in the photo isn't what was expelled by tightening the bolts.. As I said just a little wipe on the rubber seal lip is all that you want.. What's visible is just a wipe I added with my fingers after it was fittedπŸ‘
I was a bit paranoid about it leaking againπŸ‘πŸ˜‚

. Since I've done this I had a read of a Ford ws manual fitting instructions for the same seal.. It shows sealant been used on the whole perimeter of the seal.. πŸ‘
