The rim/tire combination has an outer diameter and this should stay the same (for type approval, insurance etc). So by increasing the rim size your tire will get thinner and it would not make a difference in the clearance.
Now you could select a different tire (bigger) you would be outside of type approval, not sure how serious they look at that in the UK, but in Norway for instance you would fail your MOT and your gearing/speedometer/odometer would be off - the latter you might be able to correct in soft ware setting |

Get larger tires. 275/60/20 & since you have the stock 20 inch rims you should have no rubbing issues. There’s a guy on the forms that’s successfully installed this tire size, & iir looks sweet. Also, just so you can really have an idea of how much difference you’ll get out of different rims and tires check out this website, www.tiresize.com

As Texas said above, it's the wheel/tyre that has to be be the same rolling circumference. So the gap is the gap, sorry to say.

Or you can always drive in access mode, as long as your speed allows, and you will improve your situation somewhat!! 😅 Defender 110 SE I6 D250 23MY

Surely a 4x4 off road vehicle should have a gap??? Wouldn't most people want to increase the gap normally, hence the popularity of lift kits the World over for 4x4s. |
