I dont see them as comparable items imo.
Heated windscreen is extremely useful all year round. Ive always found the Defender heater to be adequate for UK temps IF it is in tip top condition. Though probably a fair bit colder where you are! So I would get both! While doing the heated screen id also fit heated mirrors, can splice them into the same loom. Instagram @defender_ventures Empire Tuning - Agent |

To me they’re not really comparable but would complement each other very well indeed.
A heated windscreen to clear on a cold morning then the integrated HVAC system which comes through the standard vents would keep everything clear. Cheers Will 2005 90 XS 1954 86'' Series 1 tilt 1968 88” 2A 200tdi 2002 110 Hardtop |

Heated screen and an internal diesel heater works for me. The diesel heaters are very cheap now. Easy to fit and easy to swap out if any problems.

Heated screen full install cost me about £380. I only bothered with it because someone listed a loom for cheap on Facebook. Worth every penny probably one of the best mods I’ve done to my truck. I also got some of the vent adapter things from foundry 4x4 for £50 and to be fair they’re well worth that for clearing the side windows.
Just my opinion but I wouldn’t be spending all that on AC just to demist |

In my 1985 V8 I used a squeegee to clear the inside of the windscreen and my elbow to clear the drivers side window

heated screens work well in a defender. some are quicker to clear than others and take more power but a good upgrade.
to compare aftermarket con you need to compare it to a std lr version . we tried to speak to the lads at Mod and like many sellers they never answered or called back. emailing did provide some answers but not enough to spend my money on. one of my mates wanted to buy the kit and fit to himself but they were reluctant to do this after a while he let them do it to his tdi. they undercut 3rd party workshop to do the job. the kit he got isn't the same as the one they advertise and the vents are poor quality. price they charged was more than they quoted as well when he collected it overall a good kit and the heater works ok as does the air con.. |

Thanks for the info.
So it sounds like the way to go is heated windscreen, and mirrors with the Updated heater matrix? I’ll add heated front seats too just for the comfort. I have a underslung AC, looks like I’ll keep it. Thank you!! |

FWIW I live in Ottawa (look it up if you are not familiar😉) uber humid and hot in summer with temps of 30+C and uber cold in winter -30 C. I have OE AC and a Masai heated screen as well as heated mirrors and seats. It just makes life easier and more comfortable as my daily driver all year round.
I would recommend both for your humid , wet climate 🤷♂️ Good luck 2010 Range Rover MkIII Autobiography Super Charged (Idris) 2003 Range Rover Mk III (Desmond FitzWilliam) 2000 Defender 110 CSW TD5 (CTX) 1992 Range Rover Classic (Lizzy) 1972 Series III 300 Tdi (Stanwood) 1967 MGB GT Every normal man must be tempted at times to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin to slit throats. Thank you all! I’ll check out the upgraded heating matrix instead of buying the MOD option and the mirrors and windscreen. Thank you!!.
