What do you mean flashing? Flashing an error or something else? My charger flashes the green full charge light when the battery is fully charged and cycling.

no amber lights on the scale showed at all, then the green light started to flash. Never seen that before, would have expected it to go at least to some kind of charge.

Very few intelligent chargers will charge a totally flat battery, but if you can get some.charge in with a dumb charger then the ctek should be fine. It's just a characteristic of this type of charger, it has to be able to recognise that it is connected to a battery.

As mentioned, they won't charge an under voltage battery. You can trick them by connecting them up to a good battery, getting them charging it, and connecting your dead battery with jump leads (in parallel) and then, after a few mins, removing the good battery, without pressing any buttons on the charger. |

We will have to wait for the op to confirm. But it doesn’t sound like a completely flat battery in their op. |

thanks for your suggestions,
battery was at least 70% land rover assist guy got it started and we let it tick over for at least 1 hour, in that time battery state went up from 20% to 70. when he left I put the CTEK on to leave it over night but then saw the symptoms as described, panicked and disconnected straight away May try it again later today, going out for 25mile round trip, if starts? Just been browsing and looking at NOCO lithium charger/starter,(model to do D300 about £109) we are on the continent for 5 weeks from end of July and will be most miffed if it continues to play up. Waiting for dealer to get back to see if they can fit me in for a check up. John |

If you are charging using the jump start connectors under the bonnet just jiggle the crocodile clips a bit to make sure they are in full contact with the two posts especially the red one (positive) in the plastic box it makes a better contact. The plastic box makes it a little bit more difficult to get a good connection depending on the angle.

well flat battery again today think its a separate issue with tow bar not deploying, gonna put a post on for that, contacted original dealer and heard nothing back from them!!! so going into dealership Ive used for years previously. Eventually settled for a RING lithium power pack and separate battery charger only because they have 10% off direct from them, free post and 2 year warranty.
