Very true Mark due to your sailsbury plain knowledge and my lack of it (apart from the army camp route) would you consider a forum day or weekend with you leading a group I am also sure you brought some RRS wheels off me before a morocco trip, same Mark? |

Not me with the wheels Tack but then i can't remember what happened yesterday half the time!
I normally do a run over the Plain based on the updates i get from the Range Warden i know , so at any time i am lucky to get three weeks notice to be sure that there are no areas closed due to live firing. (at present i am waiting to plan the route for the Disco3Club for their run on the 3rd Dec but i still have not had the update so cant even sort out the starting point) This does not guarrantee no live firing excercises though, but to be honest from experience it is very rare (but shows you do need to be flexible). Xmas and Easter are the two times of the year that are easier to plan well in advance but i would not do that with the rest of the year so not to cause any disappointment. The beauty of the Plain is that it is big and can swallow larger groups and is in the main safe and scratch free so suits a wide range of owners. I have a good bunch of friends from this forum and the Disco3Club whom i email to let then know when i am going out, if they can make it at short notice thats great, if not they know there is always another day so there is no pressure. As you know the problem with putting out a general note (which i have done before) is the high number of interest that then drops off rapidly before the due date - Amazing but true but from my experience more Discovery 3 owners are happier to get their cars dirty than Defender owners! I do like your idea and am thinking that Easter will be the best time as i would be able to ask BPMan and Bob Neville to help me with the navigation and help split any groups up. In the mean time if anyone wants to be added to my mailing list please PM me your email address and mobile numbers. The days are family friendly and a great introduction to the Plain if you have never been before. Mark |

morning fekete
well I normally never need to wash my truck off as the rain in Wales tends to do it for me. Yesterday i have to repair my truck after pulling out the landcruser, thought i had broken a half shaft but instead found that the HD drive flange had no teeth left and the CV end also had no teeth left so going back to the old style weak drive flange that when its dead you just chuck it alway and put another one on. much less hassle then changing the CV. fun day. |
