200 to is very solid.
1st should be compression test. 2nd check turbo for oil passing if you had oil in the manifold. 3rd would be injectors. And then test the injection pump. Steve. |

Injector pump only went on brand new in November 2023 so that should be ok.
Do you know roughly what kind of cost would be associated with these? |

Compression tester is 30 quid of eBay.
Pump can be tested by disconnecting and fitting hoses and then putting into bottles. Turn over and measure. Injectors may need to be sent away for testing. When I did mine I think I just moved the pipes and put them into bottles as well. This was when I flooded the fuel tank in sandy water. There really can’t be that much wrong. It's still at the LR specialist which is 150 miles from me. I will need to call them and speak to them tomorrow. Just a thought and some context. I got this vehicle in may 2023, haven't had it serviced yet. I trust that the last owner did service it like they said they did. But if not, could it be a knackered fuel filter potentially that's the cause? |

Could also be something simple like a snapped rocker shaft etc.

The basics need to be looked at first.
Are you getting diesel to all the injectors, are you getting similar compression on all cylinders, are all the valves moving, and at the correct time. To see if you are getting fuel it’s just a case of cracking the injector feed pipes. Then a test with compression tester. If low the apply an air supply to cylinder and find where your air is going. To do this you need both the valves shut, so will be taking the rocker cover off and you can then see what your valves are doing, and you can check timing. Your problem could be as simple as bent push rods. Nice simple and cheap. But also something I’d expect the garage to have checked. Last edited by landy andy on 13th Jun 2024 7:12am. It could be but wouldn’t explain why it’s only firing on 2 cylinders.
I’d ask them if they have checked the injectors and the pump? And then ask why they think you have damaged pistons. As said, for them to take the rocker cover off to check the rockers is no drama. I suppose the only other think is that you have damaged valves. But this would show up on a compression test. Steve. |

A compression test wouldn’t show up bent valve push rods though.

If a timing belt was fitted recently and not fitted correctly it will snap or slip causing internal problems. Get them to have a look at the timing belt. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel
