The local RNLI were asked over to Buckingham Palace in recognition of their fund raising efforts over the last 30 years. The raft races organised are great fun. Anyway this was what was on the menu at the Big House for those in attendance.

I never get tired of correcting the still existing prejudices about British cuisine (I'm German).
When I lived in Wales for a while, about 30 years ago, I ate my way through the Good Pub Guide, was particularly surprised by the variety of dishes and was rarely dissapointed (except e.g. that Ploughman's Lunch wasn't actually lunch but a decorated onion on a cutting board ). Also one thing I remember was me at Tesco's reading the fine print on a cereals package and wondering "what the heck is this 'Gluten' thing?". No one in Germany knew at the time. |
