hi lift dumper brakes stuck
Any plant experts out there?

I've got a Wacker Neusen 1001 1 tonne hi lift dumper, approx 2017with 750 hrs from new. It's been unused / unmoved for 2 months and now it won't move - it appears the electric handbrake is stuck on.

It starts OK, and it will rock backwards and forwards with the hand brake switch off against the brakes.

Have checked the electrical connections on the hydraulic valve under the floor plate and they are clean.

I tried giving it a bit of a pull with SWMBO on the digger whilst trying to drive the dumper hoping it was just 'stuck brakes' but to no avail.

Any ideas?

Does the park brake activate electrically or does the electrics operate the hydraulics?

If hydraulic have you tried cracking the bleed.

Thanks Andy, but I think they're like air brakes ie use hydraulic pressure to release the springs that hold the brakes on.

I was hoping that after being so wet they'd just stuck on, but looking around they might even be 'wet' submerged in oil.

Will delve further at the weekend.

I believe that the brakes are hydrostatic and incorporated in the drive motors. It is likely to be an electrical problem, possibly at the throttle pedal or forward/reverse solenoids. These machines are also known not to move if the battery is discharged, did you have to jump start the machine?
