Is the pedal spring working as it should? That would be a good place to start, and is the fluid the correct level, if so what colour?

I’m wondering if the clutch pedal pivot shaft needs lubrication, that can cause a sticking pedal.
In this topic https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic22839.html it highlights how you can fit a grease nipple to lubricate , however that’s a lot more difficult on a Left hand drive. But you can take the 6 cover screws out, remove the cover and lube the pivot with a light oil ( I.e 3 in 1 oil or equivalent). Note , do not lube the master cylinder shaft, its the lower pivot that goes from left to right you need to lubricate. To target the oil at each side you can use a drink straw, touch the end of it on the area to be lubricated and then drip oil into the top of the straw so it flows to the target area. Excess oil will drip into the footwell, so put a cloth there to catch it. Also lube the bushes that house the clutch pedal spring. Then using your hand operate the pedal a few times to work the oil in and see if this fixes the issue. Worth doing before spending money on new clutch etc. If it does transpire you need a new clutch then the two most popular are the transit 4x4 clutch and the Offerings from LOF. If you do a search on here you will see several informative topics on Clutches for the 2.4 and 2.2 Puma defenders. |

That’s a good point, it’s a very tight fit with good reason.
If it gets tight, then that could make it sticky, I was lucky in that there was a thread there to fit a grease nipple on the RHS of the pedal box. Chillin In The Backwoods🇬🇧🇺🇸 ⛽️🛢️⚙️🧰💪 |

I have been looking a while for a new clutch and I never saw the toyota option, you have some reference?
I have a transit clutch that I'll be trying to mount next week. Making my Defender great again. (Or trying to at least xD) |
