Yes.. simple DIY Project. In principal, I did exactly this Land Rover OEM to OME, I used the Land Rover Washers on the OME Steering Damper as they were a better thickness and fit. Better than what? What is wrong with your current steering damper that you think will be improved by an upgraded one? As for fitting, about as easy as a spannering job gets. |

Very easy job, just unbolt the old and re-bolt in the new. No real tricks or anything to watch out for. If you find the pin end turns when your undoing it you can use a pair of stilsons to hold the damper in place. |

Hello Chicken Drumstick Scroll down to around 1/2 way on Page 6 of my SKIP'S 90110 Diary Very much a spontaneous purchase decision (which isn't like me) when I was experiencing a slight steering wobble. In retrospect even if the increased performance claimed by the OME Damper is correct, unless the original Damper was faulty this isn't the 'best practice' way of resolving my 'minor' issue. After checking all Steering Joints to find nothing I just ordered one. For me a new set of tyres and rebalancing sorted everything, I probably could have got away with just rebalancing (at £80) but jumped to new tyres as their time wasn't far off. Oil Seal issue with OME Damper... 
 Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge When it was off the Defender and compared with the original, which I had retained, the difference was clear, 'interestingly' I couldn't say that I noticed the failure of the OME on the Defender... as she runs so true now...
