Update - It finally went into the garage today on a lorry, who confirmed it is the output shaft that failed, totally as expected. The mechanic said the failed shaft was totally dry, no grease at all, so it must be the original fitted by the bodgers at Land Rover. Looking forward to collecting it tomorrow. Lanoguard treatment awaits to welcome it home...! (I usually use Dinitrol so will be interesting to see how it compares...)
