Strange noise..solution

If you are wondering what that strange noise was earlier on today, it was me out in the series 111 2.25 diesel. Got the old girl up to 55 mph with the overdrive engaged.
Pretty exhilarating stuff, with the wind in my hair (whats left of it) with the doors, windows and flaps closed. Definately cannot call a series Land Rover stuffy

1982 88" 2.25 diesel

2008 110 2.4 tdci csw-Zulu
2011 110 2.4 tdci csw-Masai

so that's what the smell of diesel was, when walking the dog, earlier on. The full area was reporting a strong smell of diesel and a black cloud covering the north east. Recon it came over from Ireland, and there were sightings of a 111 been driven in anger, around the coast roads in Ireland

It may be a tad noisy and not the fastest, but at least you can drive it without having to worry about EGR valves, DPF's, MAF's, ECU's, Ad Blu and all the other c**p that now adornes a modern diesel.

So long as those pre-combustion chambers don't start rattling, all will be well.

It is what Land Rover called the 2.3 as it is the five main bearing engine. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

Yes I know it is 2.25 but it was referred to as a 2.3 owing to the modifications made to it. There is a supplement in the workshop manual printed on green pages. I have put the introduction to the section up here for anyone interested,
