Found this online - picture of a Defender parked in the Gatwick multi storey
Might want to select access mode and get out of car at the max headroom sign (as you drive in) just to be sure. Click image to enlarge |

Be prepared to come back and find your spare wheel missing.

There used to be a sign at the entrance showing a classic Defender 90 with a note saying 'that you can fit'.
If its no longer there, then my money is on the Albanians.... |

I parked there two weeks ago for a week when I was in Mallorca. Height wasn't an issue and I used the valet parking and found it excellent.
Just remember to put it in valet mode. I also parked there a week after I got my car. This will give you an idea of the height. Click image to enlarge I now have a spare wheel lock on now though - just for a bit of peace of mind. Eiger Grey MY23 D250 SE with bits. Known as Noddy. |

Thanks for the info, sounds like we won’t have any real problem parking, I’ve just got a new fear unlocked in having all 5 wheels when we return.
Realistically though, same thing could happen on my drive though. Time to have a think about where the lower risk is, or just remain ignorant and let insurance deal with it if I come back to the car with one less wheel. |

If you can just back it all the way against the wall? make it impossible to get to the wheel.. or leave the spare in the boot?
I took my D4 in there a few weeks ago and was fine so I'm sure you'll be ok height wise... My 1986 90 is currently on a full rebuild, with new chassis, Paint etc.. Very much a hybrid, TD5 Chassis, tub & bulkhead with a 200TDI and LT77 GB Painted in Stornoway Grey 2 years off the road, but getting close to completion now |

I left mine in a long stay last month I took the wheel off and put it in the boot, took less than 5 mins and had peace of mind the whole trip. Waiting on a lock to arrive at the dealers. 110 MY23.5 X Dynamic HSE

Begs the question - why is a lock not standard on 5 wheels rather than just 4? If JLR are so focused on security and insurance cost, this would seem to be a quick fix with negligible impact on list price.

Why not just get a wheel lock?

The spare as 2 separate wheel locks as standard but the thieves have full sets of keys. I've looked at the locks on powerful etc and don't like them, I've ordered the JLR version after seeing it in the showroom. 110 MY23.5 X Dynamic HSE RR MY23 HSE PHEV D5 MY19 HSE - Now Sold D4 MY16 HSE Luxury - Now Sold D4 MY12 HSE - Gone D3 MY06 S - Gone but not forgotten |

Begs the question what happened to the UK that this is even a worry. Can't recall it was ever an issue when I lived there. Also not really an issue where I live now in France. |

Sadly the UK is just broken.
Fourteen years of incompetent government and a referendum to resolve an issue in the Tory party, thats still not resolved, and we are where we are. Broken and bust. Anyway, any lock will deter the thieving scroats. They like things easy and don't want to have to work for their gains. Eiger Grey MY23 D250 SE with bits. Known as Noddy. |

Fitted the Powerful UK lock to a mates V8 Carpathian after wheel was stolen. Saw 3 at LHR T5 valet parking. 2 missing wheels and one with a lock. Hoping they had just removed them into the boot.
Felt odd, ordering a 22” wheel for my mates V8, wondering if it was her actual wheel for £800… ebay is full of them. 1951 80" S1 2.0 1995 110 300TDI 1995 90 300TDI |
