United Kingdom 2004 Defender 90 Td5 CSW Santorini Black
Nordic Tour
Hello All,

I’m taking some leave in June and heading up north for a bit of an explore. My rough route is below, but I would seriously appreciate any tips, recommendations, or insight from those that have been into the Nordics before. So, please do let me know!

EuroTunnel into Europe and then over to Lübeck, Germany. Through Denmark and into Sweden. Up Sweden along the eastern coast, before heading into Finnish Lapland. Circle round to northern Norway, and head to Lofoten. Ferry from Lofoten back to the mainland and follow the coast down. Head inland towards Oslo and further on to Malmö. Return home via Denmark and northern Germany.

Try and drive the Atlantic road and troll steps if you can …. Middle bit of Sweden not the most inspiring … consider going up through Finland … @steve_overland on Insta.

I'd second Nordkapp, the Atlantic Road and add the Laerdal Tunnel, purely for the fact that it is the longest road tunnel in the world and an experience to drive.

Thanks all so far!

Ah, is Nordkapp worth the trip then?

I’ll try and add in the bits further south in Norway, although it’ll depend upon timings each day. Charlie

I’ve had a play around with my route/timings, and I should be able to make it to Nordkapp. Very Happy
Any recommendations of where to camp up that way? Charlie

“Watching” as this is one that’s under active consideration for 2026.

I wondered (without checking timings or prices) about taking the Hirtshall to Bergen ferry and figuring out a rough ‘circle’ from there. We’d be leaving/coming back into the UK via Newcastle as it seems daft to go all the way south just to come back north again. Donald
