Hey everyone. I have a few questions for rewiring the dash on a TD5. So the existing owner has a single DIN stereo in it and it looks to be quite different from the dash kits that I'm looking at. So in order for me to "upgrade" the dash with one from Raptor Engineering, what do I all need in order to get all the buttons and switches to fit and work on the new panel? Nothing worse than taking everything apart only to find out you're still missing a piece
https://www.raptor-engineering.co.uk/produ...ion-panel/ If anyone has any advice with what I need to purchase before starting this project, or possibly directing me to the information I am trying to look for, that will be greatly appreciated! I just spent 6 hours looking on Google, but since I'm not even sure what to look for, I've found very limited information. |

I'm not familiar with that kit, does it just bolt in to 2001 pre-facelift (old dash) Defenders?
Are you using the genuine LR switches or aftermarket switches? Are you adding any new circuits now you have lots of switch space? You'll need to extend the wiring to reach - the existing switches are a long way from the centre console on pre 2002 machines. If you're using genuine switches you'll need the correct plugs which can be found here, they're colour coded according to the function of the switch - https://www.ebay.co.uk/str/landroverconnec...492.l74602 I also recommend getting the ISO plugs for the radio and wiring that in properly too, it'll save a lot of time if you choose to upgrade or change the unit in years to come. This will come in handy - once you've identified the correct switch it tells you the colour of the corresponding plug https://usermanual.wiki/Manual/DefenderTd5...1605721897 Good luck! |

From what it looks like, that Raptor plate looks like it just bolts on since it doesn't wrap around the sides, I'm wondering what it looks like when everything is wired. Thanks for the links! I'll have to check it out. |

hi, what dash do you have? the older style or face lift?
my 2000 td5 csw still has the older 300tdi dash and i have the a raptor centre dash fitted, this one https://www.raptor-engineering.co.uk/produ...sole-dash/ it does enclose the sides. If it is this earlier style of dash you have, and would like a clearer picture, i can take a few of mine to let you see it. Tony. |

I believe it is one of the older dashes that have the single DIN and nothing else around it. THe plate that I was looking at seems to extend over it and cover the controls on the bottom. I'll try to get a picture later. Can i see how yours looks? |

No worries. You can get all different combinations of plates to accommodate your switches etc which is good, the only criticism I have is it makes access to the vent flap levers a bit trickier. Still usable just a bit more difficult.
Hopefully you get it all sorted out the way you like it. T |
