Changing VCV, observations and notes
Good morning, i would like to make a small contribution to changing my vcv. After having sporadic drops in revs, which only occurred briefly and erratically, i have now decided to change it. I had already changed the vcv some time ago and therefore put it off. The first time I changed it, I lost the flange seal.
I really struggled with the screws now. However, an attempt with two extensions was so successful that i wanted to pass this tip on. You position and fix the allen key with your left hand and screw with your right. The joint is necessary because you can't really get it positioned straight. the tool is passed under the header between the installation. It would be ideal to fix the connections with tape to be on the safe side.

I have not learned the vcv. What I did notice, however, was that the play in the drivetrain with the inevitable "slack" had virtually disappeared, so the new vcv somehow ensures more constant revs. Really remarkable!

Changed mine yesterday using the same set up.

Couldn’t manage to get it to complete the learn.

Drives fine. 2011 130 Utility Body

The biggest culprits of drivetrain slack when gear changing is things like the VCV, failing clutch switch, dirty MAP sensor, and worn rear damper bushes.
Those are the things that do that most in my experience, they also can mean the rear is a bit squiffy and affect the clutch especially with rear bushes.
A frame adds ball joint wear and bushes add looseness, but not as much of an issue so that normally knocks. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R

By chance I saw this on the Nanocom site:
Bugs & fixes: Defender Puma 2.4 Pilot Correction Engine temp bug fix
The latest version is 1.37

This could solve your problem

Doing VCV my today. This.is not the first time, but I think I'd forgot how.much of a faff it is. Just currently trying a million combination of different socket extensions. The joy.

The new one incidentally is apparently a Denso one and comes with guide pins for installation and small instruction sheet, but no Denso logos on the box. The last one.I bought was also supposedly Denso, but didn't have the guide pins and instructions, but did have a Denso branded box. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

I seem to remember finding a ball ended hex (Allen) key to be ideal to bring the fixings home to where they should be prior to the two stage torque setting procedure.
Then you can use the correct parts to then do the torque setting.

I found with the VCV I had that the supplied fixings were too long, so I used the originals which were in A1 condition so all was well.

No need for the learn process, the power comes back a lot! Very Happy

The VCV I had came in a Genuine Nissan parts box, fitted and works no problem it was a new part.
Been fine since. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R
