Netherlands 2012 Defender 130 Puma 2.2 HCPU Buckingham Blue
LT230 1.4 to 1.2 did I make an awfull mistake?
Hi,

Just came back from Ascroft to pick up a brand new LT230 with all the boxes ticked (ATB, Hi Cap Sump, HD 300M intermediate and output shaft)
I had some problems with my transfer box leaking oil in the past.
Transfer box is for a Defender 130 2.2 Puma MY 2012
I Don’t know where I made a mistake, but now see the final ratio is 1,211 instead of 1,410.
Defender is now mainly used for holydays. If I towed heavy in the mountains I had sometimes to go back from 5th to 4th.
In the Netherlands (flat 😊) I drive away sometimes from 2nd as 1st was to short.
I still drive on standard size tyres but wanted to go for BF Goodridge Mud Terrain LT285/75R16.
Questions:
- Is it a huge difference going from 1.4 to 1,.2?
- What problems can I expect?
- Do I need to upgrade the engine now for more power?
- Or better sell the gearbox and buy another one?
- Are the 285 tyres still possible or will I never end in 6th gear again?

All help appreciated.
