Fuel gauge dead!
Hey all!

Looks like the fuel gauge in the instrument cluster has decided to die on my 2016 110.

I've checked the resistance coming from the fuel tank sender and happy that I'm seeing very low ohms (~51) when tank is full and high ohms (~600) when tank level is low. This is consistent with the range of 50-1000 that I believe the sender works on. Therefore, I think I can rule out it being the issue.

I took the resistance readings at the chassis loom under the front right seat and also at the instrument cluster plug. Both had the same readings. Therefore, I can rule out there being a plug or wiring issue to the instrument cluster.

So my conclusion is that the actual gauge motor has died or there's an issue on the main circuit board.

Anyone have any advice on what to do next?

I'm located in Doha, Qatar, so it's not like I could easily visit or send the cluster to an expert for diagnosis/repair. At the moment I'm relying on my trip meter to have an idea of when to fill up.

Thanks in advance!

There are companies that repair these clusters, but you need to send it to them. You probably have no other choice. Or ask if you can get one on loan from the repair company. What I don't know is whether it is plug&play and what the immobilizer means....

Alternatively, you can check for yourself, but: "There is nothing so bad that you cannot make it worse"
