Opinion on the D250 Engined 110
Hi.

I am considering a deal I have found on a 110 D250 R-Dynamic HSE and wondered what the opinion is of this version of engine from owners with experience of running one.

I have been driving the 3litre RRS L494's since 2014 and fancy a change.

Thanks

Harvo

The D250 is an absolute honey of a power plant, the torque is fabulous and it accelerates very well even when towing our caravan.

lt's also quiet, even when cold there's almost no diesel clatter.

Thanks for the response Lightning, I found some threads on the D250 but as new model year releases update and supposedly improve things I thought I would see what the current thoughts are on this variant.

I concur with Lightning - the D250 is super smooth and very un-diesel like. As good as a BMW 6 cylinder (having had both). I’ve not driven a D300 but have experience as a passenger and it’s difficult to tell any difference with the D250. Definitely a sweet spot in the engine range.

I’m not aware of any changes to the engine since it was introduced a few model years ago.

D250 and D300 are same engines just a different ecu flash for slightly more power/torque

D250 more than capable (obviously slightly slower to 60 etc, but then slightly better economy).

Peach of an engine imho. We dont know how well they will wear, but not heard any blow ups yet.

More than up to the job, as others have said, it’s a very smooth engine. 24MY 90 D250 HSE, Tasman Blue

Few minor issues about (belt tensioners for example) but they have a good record so far.

75k on my D200 (same engine with a different map) and no issues in that time other than a minor exhaust sensor problem which has happened in the last month or so.

It’s a great engine, I have driven both d250 and d300 extensively. I chose to purchase the d300 for a bit more oomph but the d250 is still a brilliant to drive. 110 MY23.5 X Dynamic HSE

l test drove the D200 and that was very good. So good in fact that l wouldn't have paid the extra for the D250 if Land Rover hadn't forced me to by deleting the D200.

I have a D250. I changed my order from a D300 becuase the D250 was more than enough. 22,000 miles later and I have no regrets. Thumbs Up Eiger Grey MY23 D250 SE with bits. Known as Noddy.

Thanks for all the responses, made my decision on cancelling my L461 hybrid and going with this Defender a great deal easier and a fair chunk cheaper. After 4 494's in various guises it's time for a change anyway and the car that I am/was due to get in May is not the car I test drove anyway and really don't like the removal of the rotor controllers for the heating and seat climate control on the 24 model year builds Speculative 110 Owner

The L663 in D250 is impressive. You won't want for anything with it. Thumbs Up Eiger Grey MY23 D250 SE with bits. Known as Noddy.
