Gear Knob
Good Evening

I know this has been discussed before, unfortunately our slightly cracked gear knob, cracked further more and a piece chipped out... I have ordered the silicone cover off Amazon, as a make do.....

But I wondered could these be scanned and 3D printed ? Most place are £200 for a new one but out of stock generally.

Probably be able to pick them up for a lot cheaper than that?

I'd sell you mine, it was removed when i put a SVX gearstick on which was then replaced with the bowler pair.

(unfortunately out of country till March)

It is possible, do a search here. But honestly worth thinking about a real knob (M12 thread)

Mine is also cracking up, as is the bulkhead grab handle which has never been touched by human hands!
When it does fall apart I have a series 1 gear knob, will try cut a 1/2 bsf thread on it and see how it looks. 1953 80"

Someone really ought to be able to make a good solution for this and would sell well if under LR’s prices.
Though I’m not keen on metal personally.

Why do they crack though? Can only but assume they fatigue, I wouldn’t say it’s UV damage.
This doesn’t even include the weights rattling issue which is a pain. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R

Agree. A real knob lasts longer and is nicer in the hand.

Anything of any use here?
https://mikeschromeshop.com/kenworth/t880/...es/?page=1
Or:
https://www.raneystruckparts.com/replaceme...ob-a-6910/
Or:
https://www.twistedshifterz.com/collection...hift-knobs

I haven’t looked at sizes or anything in depth there, but the Eaton Fuller shifter seems of similar design style.
I say similar, but that’s as far as I know I was just browsing really for ideas. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R
