Permatex 27038 Optimum Red RTV Silicone Will go to 399°C.
I would not use exhaust cement as that breaks up and turns to fine dust and you don’t want that getting in the engine. Worth checking out products for stove / log burner sealing in addition to automotive sector sealants but I think the high temp 1000/1300 °C ones are cement based as well. I think the temp may get higher than that and it will keep blowing out.
I was worried about the cement just crumbling. It doesn't seem like there is anything on the market that will work. I used the kit from paddocks that doesn't have the gasket for the exhaust manifold. I may try another kit that has the gasket. |

A gasket will be better in this use case. I’ve used the permatex on exhaust slip couplings but they were further downstream of the engine exhaust manifold and therefore the temps were lower.

You need exhuast putty/sealant. That manifold can hit 500c+ Instagram @defender_ventures

I see permatex and muffler tailpipe putty is rated up to 1000c. Would this work? I’m mostly worried about it breaking down and ending up in the turbo

What engine is this on? If it’s td5 there is a gasket available.

Ye it’s a TD5. I’ve seen the gasket in some kits but not the one I got. I can’t find it separately. I may buy another kit with the gasket included.

That's a great idea, I just wonder does it come in a higher temp rating. It says 440c short term. I spend a lot of time off road and mountain roads, I may be more long term at that temp, but still looks worth a shot
