New Grill and Headlight Surrounds?
I've just gone to fit a set of grill and headlight surrounds only to find when I took them out of the box that they're high gloss finish Sad .

Supplier says the shininess will wear off after a couple of weeks fitted Shocked

Not sure I'm that gullible, where can I buy a new set to replace my tired matt originals at a reasonable price? Failing that, has anyone had any luck with any kind of paint to restore them to near original? I've tried the usual plastic restorers, but nothing seems to work that well or long.

Above is on a non-aircon 2005 90 CSW.

My (cheaper) replacement is shiny and still is shiny after a few months. If would be very poor quality plastic if it would go rough in a few weeks of exposure to air!

The original started sagging a bit and had a few spokes missing. Personally I don't mind the shininess that much but it is entirely feasible to paint plastic. Buy your paint online through a proper store (not Halfords rattle cans). It's not that expensive.

You will need to correct degreaser/cleaner to remove any impurities. Ideally the correct lint free wipe cloth etc. Then very important you need a plastic prep coat and the black top coat.

This is exactly my thinking.

Looks like I’m going to have to bite the bullet and paint the old ones.

Thanks for the advice both.
