My td5 broke its studs too and it was totally standard.

What I would suggest is get your manifold skimmed flat, open out all the holes except the centre 2 to 10mm and fit some spacers and longer high tensile bolts 12.9.

Bit of a kop out but I've put it back together in a sort of bush mechanics way, it's my motor I wouldn't pay anyone else to do the job I've done but, it's what a lot of the more spurious garages are capable of

I will get sorted out with some longer studs and repair my angle grinder to open the webs between #1 and #2 and between #4 and #5. Also need to get some helicoils sorted as the front 2 studs are not 100%

I've always wondered how strong/durable helicoils are? Tell someone you love them today because life is short.
But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing...

If you want to make a thread in aluminium stronger, helicoil it with a steel helicoil.

Or use the Wurth Time-Serts. In fact there are a few Land Rover TSB's outlining the use of the Time-Serts so they are LR approved.

Also worth buying a set of the JE Engineering stud kits. Same stud diameter s the standard ones so easy to fit. They appear to work well - not yet had one come back in the workshop, even with Alive Stage 4 tuning.
