I spend a great ten years marshalling at BAFMA then BAMA events before then competing when they became MSA registered

This was the last competition we took part in. Green 90 with roll cage.

The Bramley Ammunition dump here was one of my favourite sites and one of the most memorable was the night event on Salisbury plain.

Hi markb110
On your green 90 with the roll cage, the end of the snorkel is very well protected, did you make it that way and would you have a closer pic please, many thanks Very Happy 1996 Golf Blue 300Tdi 110 Pick up.

What is Mudmaster? Not heard of it before. Google only brings back a running event.

Chicken Drumstick here is a youtube video on it.
Search for Mudmaster offroad or 4x4 on there and you will find some videos.

Hi Clayton

Thanks for asking, I made most of it myself, mostly out of necessity.

The original Mantek with the mushroom top became annoying on greenlane runs and when competing.

The top never came off but it would cause the down pipe to twist and then tear the rubber joining pipe.

The solution was to keep the Mantek (roll cage) wing mount, then buy a metre length of alloy turbo pipe and a right angle silicon connector.

I cut the pipe to length then cut the intake hole and rolled up a section of stainless steel squared hole mesh and pushed it inside to prevent debris getting in. My brother then welded a cap onto the nd to seal it.

I then experimented with the intake hole in the straight ahead position before settling on the position in the second picture.

There was no change in performance as it would easily do 90 on the motorway, pre expensive fuel. It also took a direct hit on the motorway from a pigeon, which could only be described as spectacular from the drivers seat. Whistle

Once happy I then Buzzwelded it black so that it matched the cage and didn’t stand out as much.

On the first picture you will see a plastic cover for the lower joining pipe, this was a first draft and was a cut up piece of drain gutter. The idea was to prevent all the Hawthorne stabbing we get down here.

I have since made and moulded a piece of Kydex (Amazon) to better form around the shape of the joining pipe and secured it with zip ties top and bottom. Think of it like a mountain bike knee pad.

During lock down I junked the plastic inner wing air ducting and made my own connector to join the lower wing air intake to the large diameter flexible pipe that others have used, except I have kept the water dump valve…..just in case.

I’ve been very happy with it especially on the night stages as it was one less thing to think about.

Thank you so much Mark for all that use full info Thumbs Up

That is why Millie has a short snorkel as some of the green lanes down here would always take the mushroom clean off and even never to be seen again when looking for it Rolling Eyes

The info will give me something to think about now to get the snorkel where it should be Very Happy

thank you again Very Happy 1996 Golf Blue 300Tdi 110 Pick up.
