What Gauge Steel??
Evening folk ...

I'm considering doing a repair to my 1994 chassis (corrosion)

Can anyone advise on the right gauge/spec of sheet metal I should be looking at please.

Many thanks

i have used 2.5mm steel sheet on chassis repairs.always use at least the original thickness of the part you are repairing.

I thought AWG is for Wire.
Pretty sure that the original chassis is just 2mm with a lot of internal spot welded stiffening. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing

Hi Dinnu ... I think you'll find SWG is simply the European initials for Standard Wire Gauge and AWG is initials American Wire Gauge.

However, it matters not IMHO ... it a gauge of a thickness, be it wire or sheet metal
