Focal V2 speaker install questions
I have read a few threads about installing these with the cross overs but just to confirm is it ok to use the existing speaker wires to power the cross over and then what wire should I use from the cross over to the speaker and tweeter? Audio isn’t really my thing Embarassed Andy

That’s the correct way. The tweeters should be prewired. Any speaker cable will do for the main cone. The cross over will be marked, so wiring is pretty straight forward. I can’t remember how the puma is wired, sold my 2.2 good few years ago, but they had tweeters fitted, I just can’t remember where the cross over is, or if it even had one??

Just had a look at this, so there are two wires to each of the main speaker connectors, and I assume one from each goes up to the tweeter? Do I connect all 4 to the cross over?? Andy

Basically yes. The crossover will be marked input, tweeter and mid. So find which 2 are connected to the tweeter, attach a string line to them so you can pull it up when you remove the tweeter, attache the new tweeter wire and pull down. Then connect the other 2 wires to the input on the crossover. New wire to the mid and away you go

The factory tweeters have their crossover/filter built in, so they are simply piggybacked off the main speaker.

To use crossovers, easiest to take the factory wires to the main speaker and use those as the input to the crossover.

New wires from crossover to mid speaker, new wires from crossover to tweeter.

Tape up the now unused factory tweeter plug somewhere safe for the future if you return to standard.  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top
