engine rattle
evening all,
my 110 has started to rattle, which is coming from the engine when i accellerate inbetween 1500rpm and 2200rpm or when you back off and re accellerate there is a tappety rattle/ judder from the engine. it sounds to me like a most rattlely common rail engines but this only started the other day and has been getting worse.
my tractor has done this from new and it has had fuel and power problems since i had it ie lift pump, turbo, injectors ect ect, i am just hoping the defender isnt going the same way.

has anyone else had any problems like this?
any ideas to what it would be would be great as i dont fancy having to take it back to stratstone again. Sad

Have you changed the fuel you use recently ?

I had the same thing when Shell introduced Fuel Save - there are posts on here about the problem.

Changed to Esso or BP and problem went away.

hi bob,
yes we had a delivery of fuel last week from a different company and put in some adittive in, i hope it isnt that as we've got 1200L of it. Big Cry

Boulty if you look at page 3 of the tdci section there's a thread entitled 'another rattly puma post' wot I started as I have a tappety rattle that comes and goes. There are some helpful suggestions there as to what may be causing it Thumbs Up
