Great reply! To satisfy my eternal curiosity, please can you tell me what a ferrite fuse does?
Cheers
Matt

Basically, the Ferrite fuse interacts directly with unwanted high-frequency RF energy and dissipates it effectively while allowing data signals to pass unimpeded along the harness to the EMS.

Many thanks - love to learn Thumbs Up
Incidentally, it also appears to break wires Laughing Tell someone you love them today because life is short.
But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing...

Sad All was fine for a day - until friday afternoon on the highway in third lane....doing 140 kmh - suddenly no power at all - needless to say it was no fun at all Shocked - never happened before
When I finally got to the roadside I turned of the engine for a while and checked the wiring on the turbo - starting again all was back to normal. No warning lights or anything when the power loss occurred.
Before the incident whit the cut wires I have noticed a steady ( but very small) loss in power - in a period of about two months.
I will give the engine a good cleaning and check for leaks - could it be a steady growing crack in the manifold? have looked for it but not found any - will give anything a closer look today. 88 Ser. 3 1980 -sold

Found the leak......between the manifold and turbo - one nut missing the two others a bit loose... It seems to me that the gasket ( nakatanega) is a bit hard - shouldn't it be compressed a little bit when one tighten the nuts?

Regards

The reason I asked earlier as to who fitted the annealed copper gasket was to ascertain whether or not they replaced the manifold studs as well. Once these gaskets have been substituted for the OEM ones I personally would replace the studs and nuts and keep trying to tighten them over a period of a week or so to take into account any heat stretch when new studs/nuts are used. Remember it gets very hot in there and metal expands when hot. Thumbs Up
