Does anyone know where I can pick up a copper washer for the r380 gearbox drainage plug that doesn't cost £4?! It's a copper washer for crying out loud.
I've seen a magnetised plug and washer for a tenner on eBay. Yet a single washer nearly costs as much with postage.. Can't remember if mine is magnetised or not when I changed the oil last. Alas I recall I paid about £4 including postage for two last time I bought some (eBay). Still relatively expensive at £2 ish each but I couldn’t find an alternative at the time.

I was wondering if it was a fairly generic size. Just received a filter kit for the td5 and it comes with a copper sump washer. Typical as I already have a Femco quick drain connection fitted.
Might be cheaper to pop in my local main dealer. By the time £5 postage as been added I wouldn't be surprised. FTC4112 is 55-75p for aftermarket, £4 genuine.
So £4 on eBay is presumably to cover postage, handling, fees etc on a 75p item. On LR Workshop someone's listed the dimensions (the 1.5mm is the thickness). https://www.lrworkshop.com/parts/FTC4112 1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top 2015 D90 XS SW |

Might be worth a call to a local motor factor's, but unless they are near you the £4 from ebay will probably not be that much different than the cost of fuel and hassle.
I tend to order things like this in a bag of 10 when ordering so I don't have to pay postage on a pennies part - this ends up being really useful when I come to need them and can't find them 🙃!! |

Thanks all. I've got a decent auto shop near me, ASK in Kippax.
Tbh, if I can't find a match at the shop, I'll probably just buy a couple from eBay as I used Gen 'part' MTF94 last time but bought Granville MTF94 (what ASK had in). Some folks have said they wouldn't give Granville MTF94 to an enemy but that sounds like an exaggeration! Castrol syntrans for the Tbox though. Might just leave it in there for a year. Granville is awful cheap rubbish I wouldn't use or sell it. I use ATF dextron III instead Some of the cheaper aftermarket washers aren’t actually “copper” beware. If you’re really stuck you can anneal the one you have with a blow torch and re-use. |

I'll check. They were around £3 and labelled as Bearmach. The seller has tens of thousands of sales in 4x4 parts. Will check them out when they rock up.
Are there anecdotal reasons for Granville MTF94 being crap? They give it the big one on the website. I don't recall it being that cheap either "Granville MTF 94 Manual Transmission Fluid is formulated using high quality base oils and the very latest additives to produce a fluid that is designed for use in specific high load manual transmissions to prevent premature synchronizer wear, poor gear shifting and ultimately transmission failure. Recommended for use by Granville for the following manufacturer's specifications API: GL-4 Product Benefits * High load protection * Excellent shear strength and stability * Long life lubricant" "Big green" 2000 Td5 90 IRB Developments modified (2004-2011) Discovery 3 TDv6 GS Auto 2011-2012 *Missed the Defender too much* IRB Developments rebuild: Project Ice cube 2012-...... http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic11056.html |
