Hello folks,
I quite fancy some spotlights for the front of my 110. I have this vision of an alternative to the usual A bar but the problem is that don't know if such a thing is actually available Below is a very crude mock-up of what I have in mind, which is best described as a very low A-bar that would position a couple of spots at the same level as the headlights. Click image to enlarge Does anybody know if such a thing exists?? Paddocks do one for £39+VAT, it's for a Disco officially but I see no reason you couldn't mount it to a Defender bumper.
http://www.paddockspares.com/lightbar-for-...oated.html I'm thinking about doing this too, but I'll decide once I've seen the photos of yours Also thought about the through-grille ones, but looking at the design I think big spots (like LF 170s) would bounce around a lot. |

Ah, I'm way ahead of you both there, I'm afraid. I've actually go one of those Discovery bars to fit to my wifes' DII and I tried it on my 110 but it doesn't fit. Mainly because the aircon grill gets in the way, but also the brackets are a bit too deep to fit on a Defender bumper. Darren

Again, the air con grill makes that very difficult, plus if I'm honest, I'm not keen on the look. Darren

Style, looks etc are always down to personal taste.
May I suggest you find a local fabricator to make one for you? Stuart next door to us could certainly knock one up for you. Find a local welder, gate maker etc. He will have access to materials, galvanisers and powder coaters. Just take your vehicle and let them measure up. Brendan |

Yeah, I could do I suppose. I was just hoping there might be something already available to save me the faffing around. Darren

If you don't like what is available in aftermarket kit then look at what can be done for you. The light bar on top of our red 110 was custom made for us as a lot on the market are shall we say substandard in my opinion
My comments are not aimed at safety critical type components. Brendan |

Right, well that's saved me a load of bother then, thanks I don't have aircon but I guess the bracket thing kills it off. Anyone got any photos of those through-grille ones? The photo on the website isn't much good as it's taken from about 8 inches away with a 10mm lens |

I had the instructions sent to me for fitting the through grill lamp bar (First Four version).
I have air con on my 110 and there was no way the bar was going to fit without a lot of work, I reckon it was an intercooler AND rad out job. Reason for this is none of the holes/fixings that the bar was supposed to attach to were present on my 2009 vehicle. I am sure the non air con version would be easier to fit but you have been warned Bob Edit - if you PM me your email address I can send you the fitting instructions. |

You're not a real landrover owner unless you have spotlights and a lightbar <tongueincheek>
