If you’ve recently driven through puddles, or heavy rain, before parking up, then it is quite likely the park brake may have rusted. Mine often does. 1st gear and a sharp up on the clutch, while park brake is off, will normally give a loud bang, and the brake releases. Once it’s moved it will be back to normal.
If it still feels like it it stuck on try to physically roll it, and that will tell you if something is stopping it. It could be the park brake cable seized. How does the park brake lever feel? |

To be honest we haven't had it long , we drove back from wales in the rain 4 hours.... she has put it in Neutral and its not rolling ......
Our old series Landover handbrake was on the gearbox/transfer box is that the same with the newer ones ill be home later so ill have a look |

Chock the wheels, handbrake off then give the brake drum a smack with the Land Rover ‘special tool’.
When I been through water green landing I leave mine in gear with the handbrake off. I learnt my lesson with my first ever 4x4, a Mitsubishi Shogun in the early 90’s. That was a real pain as the rear brakes were drums, so wheels off then hit…….. |

Well done......
The other side of the handbrake that you need to be mindful of is that if you have been driving through puddles, then stop on a slope, apply handbrake.......the vehicle may start moving. I was on Salisbury Plain once and towards the end of the day we stopped, got out for a final chat and i glanced over to my 90 and thought.....did that just move, nah.....looked again and it was defiantly creeping slowly forwards. Popped it in gear and all ok..  |

Just be careful of being under it whilst hitting brake with hammer. Make sure the wheels are chocked
