Soft close door option
There looks to be an outfit called LR-chip that is adding soft close door to Defenders. I am located in the states but wanted to see if anyone had any additional information. I reached out to them but they refused to help with the part numbers/complexity required. Has anyone explored this?

It’s already got soft close- but you don’t notice it due to the weight of the spare

I'm sure the Chinese sellers on Alibaba will have a kit soon enough, they already do a kit to make the back door open and close automatically and they have various kits for other makes and models of car. They call their kits 'suction door kits' Confused Cheers Ian

I'm guessing you would need 4 of those kits or they are extremely cheap, I know on Aliexpress the price for a set of 4 is £370 +vat: or £590 + vat for all 5 doors Confused Cheers Ian

The listing shows 4 motors, four wiring harnesses, etc. so it looks like enough for 4 doors. I agree it is inexpensive.

That said, it does not list the LR663 version for this. It shows the older LR Defender, even if it shows a picture of the latest model. Caveat Emptor.

I think that you would be surprised in regards to Ukraine, so worth sending them a message.

Back in June I was looking to a solution to an issue I had when bike packing and found it from a couple in Ukraine that makes their own stuff.

Emails promptly answered in perfect English, payment was easy, postage tracked until it left the country and the item I ordered arrived within two weeks.

They even hand painted the Ukrainian flag on the inside of the box with a message of thanks.

Unlike many companies in the UK, they made me feel good about my purchase.

I asked the seller and it is indeed for Defender L663 and includes 4 door kit.

They are aftermarket of-course and not genuine.

That said the genuine soft close parts are available in other Landrover cars and LR-Chip offers it as a retrofit using genuine parts
