I’ve just got my renewal in from Admiral and I’m a bit surprised with it.

Paying monthly for me and my wife to use it for social, domestic and commuting, for 10K miles in central Scotland.
It’s came in at a total for the year is £390.48 with an exs of £550.

It won’t let me reduce the exs any lower.

But overall I pleasantly surprised only £110 more than my Disco 4 last year.

Its doesn't help knowing that the CEO, Directors, Management, Team Leaders and Key Employees all have company provided JLR vehicles on a six month lease and never have to get their hands dirty with minor inconveniences like insurance, VED, warranty issues or having to pay the dealer servicing costs that you know darn well most of which are covering the wages of staff that aren't anywhere close to your car.

In a nutshell they are as far and away detached from the consumer as they possibly could be.

That's interesting. I bought both a Volvo and BMW that were ex management cars.

I nearly bought a JCW Mini until I released it was a press car and still with the same number plate.

I thought you meant sold onto to the public. Yep the BMW was most certainly serviced by BMW UK before going into the dealerships bid pool

Just had my renewal quote from LV…

MY24 Defender premium up 53% from £571 to £876. And my wife’s MINI went up by exactly the same percentage. Which smacks of a lazy algorithm to me.

Max NCD held by both of us, live in rural low crime area as confirmed by local postcode search. LV put out a communication saying repair costs up 32% since 2022 and theft payouts up 35% over the same period. So scratching my head to understand where they got the 53% increase from.

Sharing 2 tips from Martin Lewis:
1. get a quote 25-26 days before your renewal date to get cheapest quotes
2. Try comparison sites in this order a) compare the market b) moneysupermarket c) confused.com

53% increase? You were lucky.
The insurance from LV on my D250 Commercial went up on renewal last November from £300 to £700

Nobody else was any cheaper than LV's renewal quote so l stayed with them.

I have an autobiography SDV8. I went for an early renewal (2 months before due date). There were several possible choices. Went with Darwin at £600. I do have full NCB and live in rural Devon. That price was still £200 (50%) up on last year! Ive also had quotes this month for my new P400e coming in a week or so and they are coming in at £740

Theft of new Land Rover products has gone down considerably since the security upgrades and also improvements on new models.

This should result in lower insurance prices, as LR vehicles are currently more expensive to insure than similar vehicles from other manufacturers.

However l still don't see any reductions. I tried talking to my insurance but it was pointless as they are just reading off a screen and can't take on board any changes.
