Sold - 2003 Defender 90 - genuine unmolested example - sold
Order Number 230921-295

Back Story.
It has had 3 owners, including me. It started life with Hampshire Constabulary (having had some amendments made by Land Rover Special Vehicles - so it has a genuine silver badge on the back and a SPV build plate on the driver's seat box). The second owner was some sort of warden for a local fishing club. It's now at circa 147,500 miles. I've been using it for a couple of UK and European road trips over the past 3 years - no off-roading though - and I've spent my money with this function in mind. Hampshire Police had it for 90,000 miles, the second owner for approximately 40,000 miles and I've done 18,000 miles in 3 years.

Facts.
MOT until 15th January 2024. All 3 advisories identified on last MoT have been addressed by an independent land rover specialist. New BFG ATK tyres all round (5 nr) at 139,330 miles. New heavy-duty battery at 138,800 miles. Chassis treated by "Before ‘n’ After Rustproofing” in July 2020, with balance of 10 year warranty remaining. Under my ownership it has been serviced by an independent land rover garage in January 2023, May 2022, January 2021 and October 2020. Previous owner had vehicle regularly serviced. Large file of evidence to support work done. New fuel pump and ABS pump fitted during my ownership.

Good points.
Chassis in excellent condition. 2 new leather heated lucari seats fitted to front of vehicle with matching cubby box. Heated front screen. New stereo and USB charging points installed. New steering wheel. Rear door gas strut fitted. New genuine land rover front mats. New ORE front bumper installed. Mechanically, the vehicle is sound. All doors in excellent condition. 2 sets of keys. Genuine land rover alarm system (factory fitted). Floor panels removed and re-installed with new fittings. Rear windows tinted (including the alpine lights). Vehicle has been garaged during my ownership.

Bad points.
Body work, whilst straight, is looking tired - some bald patches (due to age and possible Police stickers being removed). The Police sirens and lights were removed and there are obvious signs of where these were (the sealing of the holes is as per when it left the Police). I have not spent a penny on the rear of the vehicle as this is where we have stored camping gear and the like. This vehicle is not the prettiest, but I would think it is one of the most mechanically sound Td5s on the market.

Priced Reduced (on 17/10/23) to £13,500. No VAT.

Thanks for looking,

Neil

Looks like a really nice honest Td5, good luck with the sale. Can I ask how your RAM mounts are fitted? Looks as though you've got some kind of fixing bar attached to the dash? 2005 Td5 | 90 Station Wagon | Tonga Green

Hi Green Machine,

Thanks for your message.

I've tried a number of fixtures for the RAM mounts, but none were up to the job (my phone, which I use for sat-nav, would always fall out at the most inconvenient of moments). In the end, I drilled holes in the top part of the dash. My logic was, whilst I am not a fan of drilling holes all over the place, the cost of a replacement dash top was sufficiently low and if I needed to remove the RAM mounts, I could replace the dash top for less than the 2 RAM mounts cost.

The mounts are very secure and I've never had a problem.

Hope that helps. I am considering doing the same in my 110.

Kind Regards

Neil

Thanks mini Anaconda.

Not a lot of interest on the forum so have reduced the price in an attempt to stimulate some interest.

Looks like I'll be placing ads elsewhere at the weekend to try and sell my pride and joy.

Regards

Neil

Price reduced again today to £13,500. No VAT.

If it's not sold by the end of the month then it's going back into my garage to hibernate for the winter - that'll give me time to find an excuse to keep it.

Great news!

Curious if the buyer was on here, or not?

If not, where else was it listed?

I need to list mine other than here.. 2008 2.4 110 Utility Station Wagon XS.

Hello Brickbox,

I only had it for sale here and on autotrader. No interest from the forum - all viewings came from Autotrader. I bought my (new) 2014 110 from the forum, and given the cost, i would
do both again.

Good luck with your sale,
Regards

Neil
